Startup LSU

Experience the startup process while working with professional mentors and fellow Tigers from across campus. Whether you come to pitch the next big idea or prefer to participate as a team member, expect to learn what it takes to innovate, disrupt, and start a company – no business experience needed!

Open to LSU students and the Baton Rouge community.

Please note, we are not able to issue refunds for Startup LSU registration fees. 


TYPICAL Event schedule

Time Activity
4:30 p.m. Check-in: Make your way to the Business Education Complex Rotunda and stop at the check-in desk
5:00 p.m. Dinner & networking: Eat, share ideas, practice pitches, get to know fellow participants 
5:30 p.m. Welcome & speakers: Review agenda for the weekend and meet speakers, coaches, and community leaders 
6:15 p.m. Pitches start: Line up to give your pitch (Optional - you do not have to pitch to benefit from Startup LSU.)
7:30 p.m. Voting: Attendees vote for the top pitches.
8:00 p.m. Form teams: Come together as a team and set up your workspace for the weekend 
8:30 pm. Begin work: Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. Check with the event team to know how late you can stay to work on your idea.

8:30 a.m. Check-in & breakfast: Arrive, simple breakfast & coffee 
9:00 a.m. Workshop: Attend business model canvas workshop 
10:00 am. Mentoring sessions: Mentors help teams one-on-one. Take advantage of their expertise. 
Noon Lunch
1:00 p.m. Mentoring sessions: Mentors help teams one-on-one. 
6:00 p.m. Dinner
7:00 p.m. Check with the event team to know how late you can stay to work.

8:30 a.m. Check-In & Breakfast: Arrive, simple breakfast & coffee 
9:00 a.m. Mentoring session: This is your last opportunity to ask questions.
Noon Lunch
1:00 p.m. Pitch prep & rehearsal, tech check: Final hours of work time should be focused on perfecting your presentation, tech-check for final presentations also takes place 
3:00 p.m. Final presentations and judging
5:00 p.m. Wrap-up: Event concludes
