Majoring in accounting at LSU is more than just sitting in a classroom! There are many ways to get involved in our business community to expand your professional network.
Accounting is the universal business language. Learning this critical language will allow you to communicate and understand the financial operations of any organization in any industry across the globe. We prepare our students for careers in public accounting, industry, and government through required and elective courses in financial accounting, cost, audit, taxation, and internal auditing. Regardless of what industry you’re interested in, the beauty of accounting is that the skills you’ll learn are relevant to every organization, making accountants some of the most influential people in the business world.
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting prepares students to attain functional proficiency in accounting technology, demonstrate research skills, defend proposed solutions to accounting problems, and improve communication skills.
The Master of Accountancy program is a fifth-year professional program designed to provide students with a greater understanding of accounting and business — starting them on a course for true mastery of accounting principles and applications.
The PhD in Accounting is the mark of highest achievement in academic accounting. Our program is designed to produce scholars who will conduct top-tier, original research that makes a significant contribution to knowledge within the accounting discipline.

The LSU Center for Internal Auditing & Cybersecurity Risk Management (LSUCIA&CRM) offers a unique and dynamic curriculum that emphasizes tactical, strategic, and operational auditing as a value-added consultative function.
The Department of Accounting brings together the community of accounting professionals from the state and region for transformational continuing education experience. The Accounting Advisory Board strengthens the department’s position as a premier institute of research and education. The advisory board serves as a body of counsel and a means of advancement for the department. The board connects accounting and industry professionals who seek to increase the department’s visibility. These talented professionals donate their time, abilities, and resources for our benefit.
Exceptional students, faculty, and alumni are profiled in Tiger Tactics, the department's annual magazine. The comprehensive publication highlights research achievements, student organizations, experiential learning opportunities, donor impact, and much more.
LSU Center for Internal Auditing & Cybersecurity Risk Management alumnus Wes Ladd has experience helping some of the largest and most heavily regulated organizations with cybersecurity - including Fortune 100 banking, energy, and healthcare clients. He has served in various capacities, from internal auditor to penetration tester to cloud security architect. Ladd gained diverse skills and a passion for teaching, leading him to found Train GRC, a cloud security training company for auditors and other governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) professionals.
The LSU Center for Internal Auditing, the world's first and best university-based internal audit education program, is expanding to include a greater focus on cybersecurity risk and environmental, social & governance (ESG) reporting. In recognition of these changes, the program has been renamed the LSU Center for Internal Auditing & Cybersecurity Risk Management (LSUCIA&CRM).
A team of five E. J. Ourso College of Business accounting students will advance to compete in Deloitte's national 2022-2023 Audit Innovation Campus Challenge (AICC).
