Research Interest

My research interests focus on veterinary and comparative immunology, especially the immunology of hypersensitivity disorders, including atopic dermatitis, food allergy / food induced atopic dermatitis and allergic airway diseases. I am also interested in the immunologic response to fungal and oomycotic (Pythium, Lagenidium, Paralagenidium) infections, as well as in the investigation of how to manipulate those responses to provide better clinical outcomes.

Teaching Interest

Simply put, I love to teach at all levels.  The majority of my teaching has involved teaching veterinary students dermatology on both a didactic and clinical level, and in providing continuing education to practicing veterinarians on dermatologic subjects.  I also greatly enjoy teaching immunology to veterinary students and graduate veterinarians.

Clinical Interest

As a dermatologist, my clinical interest involves any area of dermatology.  However, I find myself most interested in patients with superficial, subcutaneous or fungal diseases.  While the majority of my caseload is small animal, I also have an intense interest in equine dermatology, as well as skin diseases of food animals and exotic pets.
