Tank/Barge Firefighting
Course Description:
This course provides instruction on how to prevent, control, and extinguish fires on a barge utilizing different kinds of extinguishers, water lines, and foam. Subject covered are, fire behavior, ignition sources, flammable and combustible liquids, portable fire extinguishers, water and foam application. Field exercises test the skills of the student to successfully control and extinguish fires common to the tank barge firefighting profession.
Certification:
Any applicant who has successfully completed your 16- hour Tank Barge Fire Fighting course will satisfy the fire fighting training requirements of 46CFR 13.307 for an endorsement as Tankerman-PIC (Barge).
This course will not satisfy any requirements of the STCW Code or for a merchant marine license.
