LSU’s Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering is accepting “Incoming Freshman Scholarship” applications. The scholarship value per recipient is $1000 for the fall semester, and $1000 each spring & fall semesters thereafter, for a maximum of four years (eight semesters). Renewal of awards is contingent upon academic performance. To maintain eligibility for an award renewal, the award recipient must remain a full time student, maintain 3.0 grade point average, and make satisfactory progress toward a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering at LSU. (Applicants must have a minimum 28 ACT-Composite score and a minimum 28 ACT-Math score or equivalent SAT composite and math scores.)
In addition to petroleum engineering departmental scholarships, incoming students may also learn about the available LSU College of Engineering scholarships for incoming freshmen.
Sophomore, Junior, and Senior petroleum engineering students also have scholarship opportunities, as the petroleum industry demonstrates its confidence in the Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering and its need for top petroleum engineers by offering more than 40 undergraduate (sophomore, junior, and senior level) $1000 scholarships each fall semester. Scholarships are renewable for the spring semester provided the student maintains a 3.0 grade point average and maintains satisfactory progress toward a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering at LSU.
In addition to the numerous petroleum engineering departmental scholarships and LSU College of Engineering scholarships, LSU's Office of Student Aid & Scholarships offers numerous opportunities for students seeking scholarship assistance. A complete listing of scholarships awarded at LSU is available in the Financial Aid & Scholarship section of the LSU General Catalog.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the application needed to apply for all federal and state aid programs. Indicate Louisiana State University (code#00201) in the school release section of the application. In most cases, you and your parents will need to complete this application. You can get the FAFSA from your high school guidance office or any college financial aid office. Use this form if you have never applied for aid. If you applied for aid in the previous year, you may receive the Federal Renewal Application, which should be updated and submitted instead of the FAFSA.
