Biography
Ali Giamalva Mullin has been an Instructor of English at LSU since 2011. Her passion for teaching writing to first year students inspired her to write a composition textbook, “You’re a Better Writer than you Realize,” published by Kendall Hunt, and second edition of the textbook is in progress. Ali’s unique teaching style relies on the understanding that writing is an intensely emotional process, and she strives to help students write easily, effectively, and critically. This approach helped her to win the University College Tiger Athletic Foundation Teaching Award in 2018. She was also nominated for the TAF President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2014. In addition to teaching, Ali has also served as the University Writing Program Interim Director and Associate Director, and is a member of the University Center for Gender Equity.
