Dean’s Excellence Fund

The Dean’s Excellence Fund provides essential unrestricted funds that enable the Dean to meet the College’s immediate and sometimes unexpected needs, including student and faculty support.  No gift to the Excellence Fund is too large or too small, and every dollar goes toward enabling the College to maximize its success in the face of limited resources.

Dean’s Circle

The HSS Dean’s Circle consists of a prestigious group of alumni and friends who are willing to act as leaders in securing the College’s future.  Membership includes an invitation to the annual Dean’s Circle dinner, a commemorative lapel pin, and subscriptions to the College’s print and electronic publications.

Dean’s Circle membership requires an annual donation of $1000.  Of this amount, $500 must go to the Dean’s Excellence Fund, and $500 can be directed to a specific department, program, or fund in the College.  Dean’s Circle dues can also easily be broken into monthly, quarterly, or biannual payments upon request.

Alumni and friends under 40 have the unique opportunity to become associate members of the Dean’s Circle.  Associate membership requires an annual donation of $500, all of which must benefit the Dean’s Excellence Fund.  Associate Dean’s Circle members will receive all benefits of full membership, including invitation to the annual Dean’s Circle dinner.

250 Club

The 250 Club is designed for young alumni and friends under 35 who wish to contribute to HSS in a meaningful yet fiscally feasible manner.  250 Club members pledge to donate $250 annually to the Dean’s Excellence Fund or any other HSS entity, and dues can easily be broken into affordable monthly, quarterly, or biannual payments.  Membership in the 250 Club includes a commemorative lapel pin as well as invitations to 250 Club networking nights and socials and as other HSS events.

Student Scholarships

Student scholarships provide students with the resources they need to maximize their potential while also empowering the College to recruit and retain students of the highest caliber.  In addition to defraying basic educational costs, scholarships allow students to engage in enriching extracurricular activities like internships and study abroad programs.  Scholarships can be either endowed or non-endowed based on donor preference.

Faculty Professorships and Chairs

As the individuals directly responsible for students’ academic development, the HSS faculty is the heart and soul of the College.  Endowed professorships and chairs contribute directly to the greater body of knowledge by funding valuable faculty research and attracting superb educators that will provide students with an education of the highest caliber.

Annual Giving

Making an annual gift is the most flexible form of philanthropy available.  In fact, many annual gifts are not actually annual; they may be monthly, quarterly, or biannual instead.  These contributions may be of any size, large or small, and can be directed to the Dean’s Excellence Fund or any other HSS entity.  In addition, automated recurring credit card payments via the LSU Foundation’s online giving module make annual giving easier than ever before.
