How She Does It: Women Leaders & Communication in the Workplace

There’s an international discussion happening right now about the gender leadership and ambition gaps.  With books such as Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead and Pushback: How Smart Women Ask—and Stand Up—for What They Want hitting the best-sellers list, it is time for us to bring this conversation to LSU.

Join us for this high-powered discussion panel of local female leaders who have risen to the top of their professions.  We’ll talk about the opportunities and challenges they’ve faced in their respective industries and how keen communication skills have propelled them into successful careers.

This session is free and open to all LSU students and faculty, but RSVP is required as seating is limited.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 20, 5:00—6:15 p.m.

Post-Reception for Distinguished Communicator Candidates, 6:30—7:15 p.m.

Email Etiquette, becoming a professional –  Do you know the difference between the “to” field and the “bcc” field when sending an email? Do you effectively use email subject lines? Do you always proofread your emails for tone and grammar before sending? We will be talking about these things and much more! Yes, email is quick, easy, and a major communication medium for all professions, but this doesn’t mean all grammar rules go out the window. There are also many genre and etiquette rules to email and you should know them all if you want to successfully correspond with others.

This is one CxC’s most popular workshops, so we’re offering you two opportunities to attend.  All LSU students are welcome.  For LSU DC candidates, this counts as 1 workshop credit.
