Research Interests

Thomas H. Douthat (Ph.D., J.D.) is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at LSU studies how place-based systems adapt to social, economic, and environmental change through the lenses of law, planning, policy, and economic geography. His research and outreach projects span Louisiana and beyond—from coastal and urban watershed management to sustainable transportation and carbon capture. Dr. Douthat's principal current focus is flood and climatic hazard resilience, including benefit cost and fiscal cost analysis to support efforts to support integrative models and decision tools.
