Our laboratory focuses on the basic mechanisms of function, control, and signaling at the maternal-fetal interface during pregnancy in health and disease using the horse and mouse as model species.
Investigations employ functional genomics to identify key misregulated events of pregnancy that contribute to adverse outcomes, such as fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia, and maternal/fetal death.
The ultimate goal of our research is to develop interventions that ensure pregnancy success and survival of mother and baby.
News from 2022 Experimental Biology Meeting:
Camille Landry was the recipient of a 2022 Horwitz/Horowitz Outstanding Undergraduate Abstract Award. She presented a scientific poster entitled Kisspeptin and Sex Steroid Hormone Receptors Are Upregulated at the Maternal-Fetal Interface of the Preeclamptic-like BPH/5 Mouse.
Dr. Viviane Gomes was the recipient of the 2022 Cell & Molecular Physiology Section
Steven M. Horvath Research Recognition Award. She presented an oral abstract and scientific
poster entitled Artificial Synchronization of Sex Steroid Hormones Normalizes Kisspeptin
Expression and Placentation in the Preeclamptic-like BPH/5 Mouse.
Congrats to Olivia Geels and her award winning research poster!
