POSITION: Clinical Veterinarian, Nonhuman Primate

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will provide therapeutic, surgical, and diagnostic support for several NHP breeder programs:

• Responsibilities include providing therapeutic, surgical, and diagnostic support for several non-human primate breeder programs;
• Evaluating non-human primates and monitoring animal health on various research protocols, such as safety, pharmacokinetic, and efficacy, for the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry;
• Providing support and instruction to students, residents, visiting veterinarians, and clinical veterinary technicians in the principles and application of non-human primate medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS:
DVM/VMD from an AVMA- accredited school of veterinary medicine. Experience with non-human primates is preferred,
though training will be provided. A highly motivated, self-starter type of individual is sought. Interpersonal/communication skills are essential.

I raised four children that have all become successful professionals in both the arts and sciences. The school is within walking distance from my clinic providing an easy juggle for a home life/extracurricular balance.
In the last year, my veterinary clinic has been updated with a Heska digital x-ray, a Heska digital ultrasound, IDEXX lab equipment, IDEXX Neo Software, a new stainless steel heated surgery table, and a new stainless-steel fold up exam table. I am a CTCVMP (Certified Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner) and will continue to practice acupuncture but would like to turn the day-to-day veterinary practice over to one or more young veterinarians. The ideal leasing applicant(s) would be allowed to create a schedule as they prefer, allowing them to earn as much or as little income as you wanted to. Full-time Salary: $90,000 for a four-day work week with the potential to expand income to over $100,000 by providing wellness services a few times a month to underserved communities outside surgical days. Paid Time Off: 2 weeks/year plus an additional 2 weeks for Christmas/New Year’s Holidays. No weekends, after hours or holidays. Reimbursements for AR license, ArVMA dues, AVMA dues, and DEA license plus a CE allowance. 

Part-time Salary is negotiable based on per diem.

Full-time Employment qualifies for the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. You are provided an office to relax in after surgery. Complete authority over medical and surgical decisions, no employee management and very minimal client contact required. The perfect candidate should be able to perform 25-30 high quality surgeries over a five-hour period per day for healthy dogs and cats (including pediatric pets) or demonstrate the ability to reach that volume with ease.

Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned small animal/exotic practice which is around 90% small animal and 10% exotic. An interest in exotics is helpful, but not required. Over the past year the practice has over gone a major remodel. We currently offer in-house IDEXX blood and urine testing, a new ultrasound, a surgical laser, and therapy laser. Within the next year we plan on upgrading from CR radiography to DR. 

The practice is currently a 1.5 doctor practice seeking a full time associate to replace an associate. Both vets are more than willing to provide mentorship to a new grad and have in the past. The clinic often hosts both vet and tech externs. The technician:doctor ratio would be 2-3 technicians per doctor, with a very low rate a staff turnover. 

Currently, the appointment hours are 8:30am-5:30pm M-F with a ½ day Wednesday, a two hour lunch, and no weekends or after hours emergencies. These hours allow for a wonderful work/life balance and this balance is highly encouraged.

Salary of $95-150K reflective of experience, desired schedule and responsibilities. Additional 1in6, equally shared, on-call compensation at 50% of services. A 4-4.5 day work week, set day off weekly, alternating weekends and regular 3 day weekends. 30-minute appts, $3000++ CE, paid parental leave, on-site pet day care, relocation, etc. 

Advanced training in surgery, dentistry, emergency/CC and exotics. Focus on standard of care medicine and practices; multi-modal pain control, ETCO2, dental rads, EBVM.
