COVID-19 Vaccine Update
February 19, 2021; 10:35 a.m.
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Yesterday, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced that beginning Monday, February 22, an additional group of Louisianans – K-12 teachers, school support staff, day care staff, those who are pregnant and Louisianans aged 55 to 64 with certain health conditions – are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine. We have received a number of questions asking if this includes staff and faculty in higher education. Unfortunately, it does not. Rest assured we are currently working with the Governor’s office, Louisiana Department of Health, the Board of Regents and others to ensure that our staff and faculty are included, as soon as is possible, in future vaccination rollouts, and we’ll provide updates as soon as there are any developments.
