Quality Enhancement Plan

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires institutions to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). A key component of the reaffirmation of accreditation process, the QEP is a plan of action to improve student knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and/or behaviors. The QEP requirements are defined in the following SACSCOC principle of accreditation:

  • 7.2 The institution has a QEP that (a) has a topic identified through its ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes; (b) has broad-based support of institutional constituencies; (c) focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success; (d) commits resources to initiate, implement, and complete the QEP; and (e) includes a plan to assess achievement. A new QEP is required for each reaffirmation of accreditation. Thus, a new QEP shall be developed in conjunction with LSU's upcoming reaffirmation in 2024. More information will be forthcoming.

LSU A&M's first QEP was developed for its 2004 reaffirmation of accreditation and focused on the Communication Across the Curriculum program, Residential Colleges, and the Summer Reading Program. 

The university's second QEP,  LSU Discover, focused on undergraduate research. It was designed to provide a supportive environment, where all undergraduate students have opportunities to engage in mentored scholarship, original research, or creative endeavors.
