LSU Announces Acting Vice Provost for Academic Programs & Support Services

Jacqueline Bach LSU has appointed Jacqueline Bach as acting vice provost for academic programs and support services in the Office of Academic Affairs, effective Aug. 3. Bach will continue to serve while a national search is conducted for an executive vice president and provost, a position held on an interim basis by Matt Lee.

Bach will provide executive oversight and management for degree, certificate, and auxiliary academic programs and support services, working with deans, directors, and department chairs to ensure academic excellence and exceptional service at all levels of the university. Reporting units to the acting vice provost include the Center for Academic Success; Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership, or CCELL; Communication Across the Curriculum, or CxC; Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes; Gordon Cain Center for STEM Literacy; LSU Discover; Residential Colleges; University Registrar; and University College. International Programs will report to the interim executive vice president and provost. As acting vice provost, Bach will serve as an ex-officio member of the Policy Committee for the School of Collaborative Academic Programs, the University Planning Council, and other committees as assigned by the Office of Academic Affairs.

“I am pleased that Dr. Bach has agreed to serve in this leadership role as we finalize our preparations for another successful academic year at LSU,” Lee said. “I am extremely proud of the work that is being done in all of the academic support units, and I know that Dr. Bach will help them to continue their tradition of excellence.”

Bach is an experienced faculty member and administrator, serving most recently as Provost’s Fellow in the Office of Academic Affairs and Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Services in the College of Human Sciences and Education, or CHSE. In addition, she has served as the Director of LSU’s Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Program and in the 2013-14 SEC Academic Leadership Development Program cohort. Bach will continue to hold the Elena and Albert LeBlanc professorship in English Education and Curriculum Theory.

In addition to the duties listed above, Bach will be actively engaged in the implementation of academic and curricular policy, providing support to the flagship and other campuses as needed. Furthermore, the acting vice provost will collaborate with the Office of Enrollment Management and LSU Online & Continuing Education in support of university enrollment goals and special projects.
