Post-Graduate Scholarships

The following funding is available to applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree.  

Funding Description
American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship Open to students who have completed their undergraduate degrees and want to conduct research in Scandinavia. Applicants must have some ability in the language of the host country, unless they plan to conduct research at English-speaking universities. 
Blakemore Foundation Offers funding for advanced study of language and fine art in Asia.
Boren Awards for International Study

Open to U.S. undergraduate and graduate students whose study abroad experience focuses on geographic areas, languages, and/or fields of study that are critical to U.S. national security.

Carnegie Junior Fellows Program

Open to graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated within the past year.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship

Offers an undergraduate international affairs summer enrichment program and an international affairs graduate fellowship program. 

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals

A full-year work-study scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange with Germany. Program includes language training; no prior knowledge of German required. Please email studyabroad@lsu.edu for more information. 

Émigré Memorial German Internship Program

Provides U.S. and Canadian students with internships at a German state parliament (Landtag). Program is ideal for students who plan on pursuing careers at a regional level of government in the U.S. or Canada or who have an interest in a specific policy issue. Fulbright Scholarship

Fellowships for graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, and artists to study, conduct research, or teach their native language. Please contact Dr. Garrett Fontenot for more information. 

Gates Cambridge Scholarship

Postgraduate scholarships to the University of Cambridge. Applicants must be accepted to the University of Cambridge in order to be eligible for a scholarship.

George J. Mitchell Scholarship

Sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. Open to individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 to pursue postgraduate study in Ireland or Northern Ireland.

Humboldt Foundation German Chancellor Fellowship

For students who have completed one degree, have substantial work experience, and have shown leadership potential in their career. The funding is intended to be used to conduct a proposed research project at a German host institution.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award

For current students or recent alumni with exceptional artistic/creative promise and significant financial need; can be used to pursue up to three years of study in the U.S. or abroad.

Lemmerman Foundation

For graduate students to conduct research in Rome in the areas of Classical Studies or the Humanities. Please email studyabroad@lsu.edu for more information. 

National Italian American Foundation

For students participating in a program for an academic year:

  • Awards available for students who are Italian Americans
  • Awards available for students from any ethnic background who are majoring or minoring in Italian

Qatar Scholarship Program

Offers dedicated Arabic language students from the United States the opportunity to master their skills in an intensive Arabic language program at Qatar University (QU) in Doha for an entire academic year (September to June). The scholarship includes tuition, room, and board in university dorms, round-trip airfare, local transportation, and books. Interested students must have obtained a Bachelor's degree by the beginning of the program, have two years of formal Arabic study, and be at the intermediate level of proficiency in Arabic. Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

For graduating college seniors to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world.

Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program

Applicants must propose to conduct research in a discipline pursued at the Smithsonian and must submit a specific and detailed research proposal indicating why the Smithsonian is an appropriate place to carry out the study. Projects that broaden and diversify the research conducted within these disciplines are encouraged. Fellowships are offered to support research at Smithsonian facilities or field stations. Transatlantic Renewable Energy Fellowship
