Clery Act

Clery ActThe Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or Clery Act, signed in 1990, is a federal statute that provides transparency around campus crime policy, procedure, statistics, and prompt notification of crimes and other emergencies on and around campus. 

The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses. 

Our office works closely with the LSU Police Department, and the Office of the Dean of Students to ensure compliance with the Clery Act.

  Establishes policy and procedures regarding University response to natural and manmade disasters and other emergencies, herein referred to as emergencies.

VAWA Amendments

In 2013, the Violence Against Women Act, or VAWA, amended the Clery Act to requiring enhanced policies and procedures for the crimes of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking. 

Our office works closely with the LSU Police Department, and the office of the Dean of Students, and the Title IX Coordinator with regard to the VAWA-related requirements under the Clery Act.
