Accreditation
Notice
The School of Education is the center of teacher education programs at Louisiana State University. Teacher education programs have been nationally accredited since 1954. The School of Education is accredited at the initial- and advanced-licensure level by CAEP, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. National recognition was earned by demonstrating excellence in the areas of content and pedagogy, clinical experiences, selectivity, program impact, and capacity for continuous improvement. The most recent accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) was approved in 2020 and continues through spring 2027.
All programs are state-approved in Louisiana. The School of Education works closely with the Louisiana Department of Education to assure compliance with state requirements for educator professional licensure.
If you would like to contact CAEP you may visit the website, by phone at (202) 223-0077 or mail correspondence to:

Candidates must pass standardized exams for content and teaching pedagogy to qualify
for a Louisiana certification.
For data on individual tests, the Federal Title II reporting process collects pass
rates on these exams into one data report. See our most recent Title II report for
Traditional Programs (starting on page 26) and Alternative Programs (starting on page 26). Pass rates are only given for licensure categories where there
are at least ten graduates. The key measure for each licensure exam is the Pass Rate
column - the far right column in the data tables.
Praxis Scores are reported for 2018-2021. LSU's average on many of the sub-test scores is above the state and national averages.
