Recruitment, Retention, Online & Research

LSU Online Launches Additional Degrees
|
|
|
LSU Online continues to grow high-quality learning experiences and world-class customer
service. This Fall 2019, LSU Online launches two undergraduate degrees, both 100 percent
online from LSU’s flagship campus: the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) and the Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (BSCM). These online degrees carry the same rigor and standards as the on-campus programs,
utilizing the same courses and faculty in a convenient online format.
In addition, LSU is adding a series of micro-credentials, or MicroCreds, which are
fully online. Current MicroCred offerings are in the career focus areas of business,
education, human services and social work, liberal arts and humanities, engineering
and construction, and technology and data analytics. The launch of the Introduction to Construction Management MicroCred® creates a “fully stackable” program where students can take everything from short
course MicroCreds through graduate degrees with no credit wasted.
LSU Online’s growth continues into Spring 2020, when three additional online bachelor's
programs will be added:
- Online Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Human Resource Development
- Online Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations,
or a concentration in Political Communication
- Online Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

LSU Center for Academic Success Garners National Award
|
|
|
The Center for Academic Success (CAS) has garnered another national award. The National
College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) designated the CAS as one of only a few
Learning Centers of Excellence in the country. NCLCA, which represents more than 1,500
learning centers, supports higher education learning centers through professional
development, certifications, standard-setting and awards. Of the schools that have
applied to date, LSU and Texas A&M University are the only two to have received this
prestigious national designation a second time. The CAS offers Supplemental Instruction,
tutoring, study groups, academic coaching, and workshops, all free for LSU students.
CAS services and programs improve student learning, academic confidence, and academic
performance such as GPA, retention and timely graduation.

PS 31: Digital Resources and Content Accessibility
|
|
|
LSU has implemented a new policy statement concerning the minimum standards for digital
resources and content accessibility. PS 31 was developed by the Online Accessibility
Working Group (see https://www.lsu.edu/accessibility/about/oawg.php) with broad input from university stakeholders, and ensures compliance with the American
with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act of 1990 (see https://www.ada.gov/). The policy includes key definitions for the digital accessibility standards on
campus; requirements for archived, legacy, and new content; training; exceptions;
and reporting requirements for all colleges, schools, and other units with a digital
presence. PS 31 serves as a companion policy to PS 26: Policy on Disability Service, Duties & Compliance. Find additional information for PS 31 here.
All digital resources and content include software; web-based applications; website
design; development, hosting, maintenance, and archiving services; cloud-based applications
and storage services; and digital hardware interfaces. This also includes university
web material, including official university websites and electronic instructional
material (text and multimedia) delivered within the university’s learning management
system. Please see the Online Accessibility hub at https://www.lsu.edu/accessibility/index.php for resources.
